Dor counts visitors at the door and pairs them with your POS sales. $150 per location per month plus $300 hardware.

How to run a manual traffic count.

  1. Pick representative hours. A weekday lunchtime, a weekday evening and a Saturday afternoon cover most patterns.
  2. Count entries, not people inside. Tap In for every shopper who walks through the door. Leave staff and deliveries out.
  3. Treat groups consistently. Decide whether a family is one visit or four, write it down, and stick to it.
  4. Pull transactions for the same window. Your POS gives the receipt count; add it to get conversion for the session.
  5. Export and compare. Download the CSV after each session and line the hours up with your sales report.

Worked example and the limits of hand counts.

Between 12pm and 2pm on a Saturday you tap In 86 times. The POS shows 21 transactions for the same two hours. That’s 43 visitors an hour and 21 ÷ 86 = 24.4% conversion.

A manual count is a good first look. It’s also tiring, it misses people when the counter is busy serving, and it only covers the hours someone stands at the door. If a two-hour sample changes how you staff, every hour of every day will change it more.

Questions retailers ask.

How do I count customers coming into my store?

For a quick sample, stand near the door and tap In for each shopper who enters, using this counter. For continuous counts every hour, use a door sensor that counts automatically.

Does this counter save my data?

Yes, in this browser only, using local storage. Nothing is sent to a server. Clearing your browser data or using a different device starts fresh, so download the CSV after each session.

Can I use the keyboard?

Yes. Press I or the up arrow to count in, O or the down arrow to count out, and U to undo. Shortcuts pause while you’re typing in a field.

Should I count people going out too?

Only if you want to know how many people are inside right now, for example for capacity limits. For conversion, entries are what matter.

How accurate is a manual count?

Fine for short samples if one person concentrates on the door. Accuracy drops when the counter also serves customers, during rushes and with groups. Automatic sensors avoid those gaps.

Stop standing at the door.

Dor’s peel-and-stick thermal sensor counts every visitor, every hour, and pairs the counts with your POS. No customer images captured.
